Empire Builder - アップグレード 8/21〜

シカゴとシアトル、ポートランドを結ぶ Empire Builder のサービスが新しくなります。
先月、アムトラックのニュースリリースで明らかになって以来、各新聞社のウェブでも発信されてますので、内容そのままですが。
まず、スパークリングワインとクッキーのサービス。
これは寝台向けですね。
2日目の夜には、ウィスコンシン州のチーズとワシントン州のワインをテイスティングするイベント。
なんかワインを押してます。
そしてディナーのメニューが豪華になるそうです。
数年前に経費削減の為に、長距離路線のメニューを統一しましたが、もっと個性を出していくんでしょうか。
食事だけじゃなく、寝台の個室にも変化があるそう。
内装が青を基調としたデザインになるみたいです。
更に寝台だけじゃなく、コーチ（普通座席）にも変化が！
日本みたいに移動の車内販売はなかったのですが、それらしきサービスが追加される様子。
ラウンジ（展望車）の2階にアテンダント用のスペースがありますが、ここでもピーク時に軽食などのサービスが復活（？）。
NPS (National Park Service)が提供する Trails and Rails Program もパワーアップということで、全体的にサービスの質を高めて行こうという感じがします。
Empire Builder と言えば、補助金の問題で無駄使い路線の代表のように扱われているだけに、サービスを一新してアピールになるか？！
新サービスは８月21日からという情報もあるので、夏休み乗る予定のある方は楽しんできて下さい！
感想ぜひ聞きたいなぁ。
それで、補助金はどうなったかというと、今度は veto なんて言葉が出てきました。
「拒否権」ですが、そこまでアムトラックの補助金を国として出したくないんでしょうか。。。
担当大臣の話だと、例えば Empire Builder だったらモンタナなどの沿線の州がお金を出せばいいというようなことなんですが。。。
